Generative Adversarial Networks, or GANs, is an AI innovation that has propelled the generation of synthetic media. Synthetic media, or deepfakes, have massive potential to enhance media production, but also to inflict significant harm. The GAN Detection Alliance's mission is to bring together the best synthetic media generators and detectors around the world, and prevent harmful attacks while promoting positive uses of synthetic media.

One way that we prevent deepfakes from causing harm is through our Detection API, which is used by developers to scan suspicious content for evidence of synthetic media tampering. This API is powered by a machine learning algorithm trained on thousands of synthetic and original video and audio files, and able to identify imperceptible artifacts that are common in deepfake media.
